Le Grand Bornand is considered to be the best preserved and most beautiful of all the Savoyard villages. The local community has managed to perfectly combine the demand/meet the needs for visitors seeking the excellent skiing area as well as the summer activities whilst maintaining all of its traditional charm and alpine heritage. Even today, farmers have still kept their original methods of production and the village remains the largest cheese producer in the region. There is always plenty going on throughout the whole year in this beautiful corner of the mountains.
To help preserve the authenticity of the village, the skiing activities are centred slightly further up the mountain in Le Chinaillon, which is just a couple of minutes away by car/bus. From here, you have easy access to all of the slopes and some of the best views in the Alps. If you ever did want to venture out to the surrounding areas, Annecy with its magnificent lake is only 40 minutes away and the neighbouring ski resort of La Clusaz is just around the corner.
