La Plagne offers some of the best skiing in the Alps. Snow is guaranteed thanks to the Bellecôte glacier and the season is long thanks to some slopes at over 3000 m. The scenery is stunning along the 220 km of pistes, which have recently been doubled with the construction of the Vanoise Express cable car link to Les Arcs, (completed in December 2003). There have been constant improvements to the existing skiing network, which provides easy access around the 10 villages that make up the resort. The nearest airport is in Lyon, which is 2 hours away.
